first of all, i woke up mad today as a mouse had eaten through the waist pocket on my new pack to get to a clif bar. then i was really tired and dragging for my first few hills of the day, but i pushed on...
random note: the plants in the woods seem to give off these distinct smells in the morning.
anyway, i hiked up to the top of bromley mountain today. i wanted to make it there last night, but alas i did not have the steam. a nice guy who was fixing a building up there pointed out some of the surrounding mountains from the fire tower. that was nice because normally when i get to the top of a mountain i don't know what anything is. then there were only three miles left to the road. there a nice retired geology professor picked me up and explained to me the tecktonics of the northwest united states on the drive in. i had lunch, bought some new shoes and some food and then came on down to the hostel. the best hostel ever. 15 dollars, clean as a whistle (a new one, not a slobber covered one), and all the free soda and ben and jerry's i could handle. I watched a little school of rock on TV and i will be checking the first day's results of worlds in berlin in the morning. i wonder if any big sprinters will choke in the heats.
Ok, its late and i have a comfortable bed i want to take advantage of.
smell ya later.
