Preparations
I had to say goodbye to the potts' homestead and my virgina friends on monday night and tuesday. I hope to see some of them again when i am hiking through the area in september. There is a picture here of the house as i was leaving.
Now i am here at home in york surrounded by all of the stuff i brought back. It is crazy thinking about how simplified things will be in a few days. No stuff, no friends, no civilization (at least for a while).
I have been running around trying to make sure i have everything ready and i have been trying to fatten up as much as possible. Tonight was texas roadhouse ribs followed by handel's ice cream, elvis flavored. Both of those dishes will be missed when i am eating all of the dehydrated foods i have been making in carefully rationed portions.
Do you think i will be able to make some tasty squirrel ribs on the trail?
